ReflectionsFor Your Heart
Colors
God’s box of crayons is the biggest of all. There are literally millions of colors for us to see in this world he has created.
Stick (from Just One Word)
We need things to stick. We need people to stick. And, we need God to stick. Jacob’s dream in Genesis 28 can help us remember God never leaves our side.
Lighthearted
Is it possible to live in this stressful world and still be full of hope and optimism? To feel carefree and even playful when we are in the midst of a struggle?
Journaling with Jesus
Are you a journal-er… or maybe not so much? You might want to give it a try after reading this! Words have a way of uncovering what’s resting in your heart.
God Goes Ahead of Us
He knows the wilderness and the desert better than we do. He knows exactly where we are and how to lead us through and out. He alone knows the way.
God Hears Us and Helps Us
Something was different–I could tell right away. After a couple of waves had crashed over our heads, my feet couldn’t touch the sand. Panic took over.
Unfolding
But God doesn’t give us everything at once. When it comes to letting us in on his plans for us, he does something fascinating and frustrating at the same time.
Mom’s Favorite Promise
In honor of my beautiful Mom, here is one of her favorite promises in the Bible and the devotion from Just One Word that goes with it.
God Will Make A Way
He knows the wilderness and the desert better than we do. He knows exactly where we are, and how we feel when we are in there. He alone knows the way.
Partake
Help yourself to the divine nature of God. You can have as much as you want–plate, after plate, after plate…
After
“What are you after?” What if Jesus asked me that? What do I spend my time and effort pursuing? Success? Relationships? Health? A comfortable lifestyle?
Wide Open
We get to stand tall instead of staying small and scared. We get to run free instead of being confined to the lies that we used to believe.
Compassion
When we feel afraid, we can remember God’s great compassion. Not only does he buckle us in and take the wheel, but he holds our hands as long as we need.
Quiet Whisper
I can get awfully loud sometimes. But when I stop and listen for his quiet whisper, my heart is reminded of the God I trust.
To Help
God doesn’t hold a grudge. He knows the addictions and distractions that threaten to destroy our hearts and our lives, and he came to rescue us.
His Idea
I’m pretty convinced that every single idea of God’s is designed to give us another glimpse of his extravagant and unconditional love.
Last Place
Maybe what he really wants us to understand is that he isn’t even lining us up. He loves us in no kind of order that we can ever make sense of.
He Ran
He runs to us. No matter where we have been, what we have done, how hurtful our choices have been. He is slow to anger, abounding in love.
Fourth Man
They call themselves the “12th man” implying their noise and energy are a critical part of the team’s defense. One more player would make a huge difference.
Because Jesus
Why would anyone want to become a Christian? Because Jesus. No matter what happens, we are safe, we are taken care of, we are never alone.
Look Up
What if I stopped focusing on the close-up, ordinary stuff? What might happen if I looked up once in a while?
Never Quit
I was disappointed, unsure, guilty. I felt like a failure. But God gently drew me back and kept his promise. We have a God whose love never quits.
Be There
My heart squeaked out a desperate plea– “Jesus! Will you just meet me here?” And he did. All you have to do is be there.
Pour On
It soaks us to the skin in seconds, drenching any possibility of a good hair day and making us wonder if maybe we do have an umbrella somewhere…
A Life of Love
What a generous gift. Immeasurable, limitless, unconditional love. How can we experience this incredible life of love that Jesus has for us?
Glory
As we get to know Jesus, we begin to experience his glory. We get glimmers of delight in big and little things. We feel a spark of unexplainable joy and hope…
